From the archives: Explaining my absence (including an announcement!)

You may have noticed my blog posts have become sporadic; I’m not blogging as much these days. It hasn’t been by choice. I have a perfectly good reason for being otherwise + 1

We’re expecting a new little traveler.

That’s right, in July of this year, our traveling family will expand by one.

The Working Dad and I were surprised in late November 2012 to learn that our little Lucia was going to become a big sister. My blogging tendencies slowed down shortly thereafter, not because I didn’t want to write – I couldn’t. I spent most of December either asleep or too nauseated to be upright. (There was vomiting involved but I’ll spare you the details. You’re welcome.) January saw much of the same but by mid-February, I started feeling better – and that meant it was time to start getting the house in order and ready for a new baby. Hardwood floors have been redone; carpeting has been pulled up; laminate flooring installed. In other words, my house is a hot mess. Our comfy and cozy travel-themed TV room has been dismantled and is now known as “the baby’s room”. Let’s not forget that The Working Dad and I still have our every-day obligations, like our jobs and Lucia. Yet, there is still much left to do.

So that’s where my free time, aka my blogging time, has gone these last few months. Here are answers to more of the burning questions I know you have:

  • What is my due date? July 28th
  • Do we know if it’s a boy or a girl? It’s a boy!
  • Do we plan to still travel once Baby Boy is here? You better believe it! We already have two trips in the works for August and September (provided that Baby Boy and I both are healthy post-delivery).
  • Do you plan to keep blogging? Absolutely! And I hope you plan to keep following along on your expanded-family adventures!

Congratulations! What wonderful news and glad to hear everything is a bit better for you. I’m sure your Lucia is so excited to be a big sister. My son was born on July 28 almost 8 years ago 🙂 Summer wasn’t the best time to be 9 months pregnant with the heat and humidity so just stay cool and hydrated. Wishing you a safe delivery and a healthy baby boy.

Thanks, Mary! Wouldn’t that be something if our boys end up sharing a birthday?? I’m not looking forward to being 8-9 months pregnant in the heat of summer, but I’ll just have to stay inside in the AC as much as possible. Lucia is excited about being a big sister – somewhat. She really was hoping for a baby sister 🙂

Great news! And totally understandable! Glad I’m not the only one that can’t do it all 🙂 as a mom! More importantly, take care of yourself and that new little one you are growing – it’s exhausting work!

    • Francesca April 17, 2013 at 11:25 am #

It IS exhausting work! Especially at my age… I’m still trying to do it all, but in reality, something needed to take a backseat for the time being. Thanks for the support!

Congratulations!!! I think babies are easy to travel with, except they take a lot of luggage! LOL But when they are just carried around all the time its so easy to get out and about. Now once they start walking, its a whole other ball game until they are a bit older. 🙂
