When it comes to taking a vacation, there’s no shortage of options. Some people like to spend a few days soaking up the madness and culture of the big city. Others like to head overseas and see how countries in other parts of the world do things. And then there are the people who just want to relax during their time away from work. If you’re one of these people, then you’re in luck: the United States has plenty of relaxing destinations where you’ll be able to recharge your batteries. We take a look at five of the best below.
Mountains and Culture
There’s something inherently relaxing about Boulder. It has a certain hippy edge, so you’re able to be and do whatever you want, and then there’s all that nature that surrounds the city. Nearby Denver might be more famous, but it’s worth taking a look at Boulder if a relaxed, chilled vacation is at the top of your travel priorities list. Spend your afternoons in the mountains, and your evenings unwinding with a craft beer downtown. You won’t regret it.
Up In Michigan
If you’re keen to escape the modern world, then why not travel back in time, when things were simpler? We may still be a ways off from having time machines, but you can do the next best thing – take a trip to Michigan’s Mackinac Island where things haven’t changed much in the past hundred years. There are no cars on the island (you walk, cycle, or take a horse), it’s eighty percent state forest, and you have beautiful freshwater everywhere you look. The perfect place to slow down and escape the trappings of the modern world for a while.
Traveling Over Sea
If you want to relax, then it’s wise to head to the beach; but which beach destination do you choose? There’s plenty of options available! For true relaxation, why not take a look over at the US Virgin Islands? This is pure paradise, a beach landscape without the urban sprawl that can often undermine other beach destinations. Book your stay at The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, and you’ll have more than thirty acres of oceanfront waiting to be explored. When it comes to slowing down and sinking into deep relaxation, there are fewer places more perfect than this corner of the globe.
Looking for a slower pace of life, albeit one with modern comforts and so on? Then take a look at New England. This part of the States is especially relaxing during fall when the leaves turn a magnificent color. Grab a car, pack the supplies, and take a drive through New England territory.
Western Range Life
If all else fails, remember that you always have that tried and true cabin in the woods! Look to the American West and select a mountain town. The natural beauty, old school ways of doing things, and simple pleasures will make you feel truly at ease – so much so, you won’t want to go home!
