With Valentine’s Day approaching, plenty of people are thinking (read: stressing) about gifts to get for their loved ones. Typically, I do not celebrate Valentine’s Day; however, I am in favor of celebrating the ones I love every day of the year. The following products make for some fun gift ideas and, of course, include a travel twist.
Gold necklaces with strong ethics
One of my favorite things to buy and bring home from my travels is jewelry. A fashionable accessory means way more to me than, say, a t-shirt. And, as travelers, we should strive to protect this fascinating planet we love to travel so much. That’s why when I was contacted by Nakturnal about the jewelry brand, AU-Rate, I was more than happy to partner with them to spread the word about their jewelry with a conscience.
AU-Rate jewelry, proudly “born and raised in New York”, attempts to change the unfavorable practices involved in jewelry production. AU-Rate uses only 100% recycled gold because the quality does not decrease and it does not create any environmental decay. The same approach is used for their diamonds and pearls, tracking every diamond from mine to workshop and using only sustainably-farmed pearls. As evidenced, AU-Rate is committed to protecting the environment. In addition, their conscientious practices also protect mine workers and family farmers. On top of all this, AU-Rate also provides a lifetime guarantee on all of its jewelry. They will “repair, replate, or repolish” your items with no questions asked.
I’m pretty sure I have found my new favorite jewelry “store”. As part of my partnership with Nakturnal, I was provided a jewelry item of my choosing. I went with the rose gold Circle Necklace because circles are infinite. So is the love I hold for the most important people in my life.
This gift idea just makes me chuckle. If you haven’t already been able to tell, I’m really not a girly-girl. For example, I prefer a half-dozen craft beers over a dozen roses. That mentality spills over into my gift-giving philosophy. Sure, I’m mindful of the recipient’s likes and interests, but when I can infuse my own personality into the gift, I go for it.
So when I heard about The Manly Man Company and its quirky, meat-centric gifts, I knew I had to get in on the fun. The Manly Man Company offered me a product of my choosing and I opted for the beef jerky flower bouquet, which I gifted to my guy. The bouquet comes with a pint glass, a coaster, and a “man card” (a flat bottle opener, about the size of a credit card). The fun doesn’t end there. The Manly Man Company also offers bacon roses (stemless maple candied bacon roses dipped in caramel or dark chocolate); beef jerky roses; meat cards (messages engraved on a large piece of beef jerky); and “manly” gift baskets. These bouquets and personalized gifts are great for loved ones who appreciate the humorous and the non-traditional.
Travel photography package
Just like jewelry, trip photos tend to be some of my favorite travel souvenirs. Problem is, I’m always the one taking the photos so I’m never in any of them! Enter Localgrapher. With professional photographers (and even videographers) in more than 900 destinations worldwide, Localgrapher is the solution.
On my latest trip to Dublin, Ireland, for Temple Bar TradFest, I booked a Localgrapher photoshoot for my guy and me. I communicated regularly with Camila, our photographer in Dublin, to sort out details and locations beforehand. The result was an amazingly fun photoshoot that yielded candid and personal photos of the two of us, in a city we both have grown fond of. If someone you know is traveling with loved ones and you’d like to give them a similar experience, you’re in luck. Localgrapher offers gift cards, starting at $100USD, and they never expire. Get one for yourself while you’re at it. (Lots more to come about my Dublin photoshoot with Localgrapher!)
