What does a traveler do when she’s not traveling? She dreams about travel! Of course the traveler I’m referring to here is me. Quite often I find myself browsing Pinterest travel boards and even looking at photos from my own trips and it all stokes the fire known as wanderlust. Even a souvenir from past travels – a small token – can transport me to a different time and place. One type of memento I tend to seek out during my travels is jewelry, especially traditional and hand-crafted jewelry that is specific to a particular region. To supplement my travel jewelry collection, I’ve also picked up unique pieces while home in Chicago at places like craft markets. Recently, I was introduced to comuse, an online shop run by a husband-and-wife team, whose mission is to inspire travel through their optimism and their merchandise, and to champion people and places. I’ll still shop for jewelry when I’m traveling and when I’m at craft markets, but now I can have travel inspiration in the form of comuse jewelry and accessories delivered right to my door.
Dawn and Neel approached me to inquire about a potential partnership because they support my efforts to promote meaningful family travel. They also asked if I would be interested in introducing my readers to comuse by hosting a giveaway for one of the products in their online shop. I absolutely love their story and the positive change they are working towards, so I enthusiastically agreed. They allowed me to select any item from their shop and sent me two: one for me to keep, and one to give away to one of my awesome readers. I spent a good amount of time browsing the comuse catalog and had some difficulty choosing just one item, but ultimately, I went with the If You’re Mappy and You Know It necklace. In my pre-children life, I was a collector of maps and globes and even had a room in my house dedicated to my cartographic acquisitions. Two kids later, my map room is now my daughter’s bedroom and I haven’t re-displayed my collection in a different part of the house because we don’t really have the extra space. It makes me a little sad but I brightened up when I discovered the “Mappy” necklace! This one piece of jewelry can supply me with the same amount of wanderlust fuel as my map and globe collection. An added bonus is that I can wear the necklace wherever I go!
The silver-accented glass, paper, and zinc alloy pendant measures 1.4″ x 1″ and comes with a 16″ silver chain with clasp. What I love most about the piece is the bright, multi-colored world map. It definitely carries with it some cheer and positive energy. And because it is multi-colored, the necklace can be worn with just about any outfit! The necklace is packaged in an eco-friendly linen sack and is accompanied by an original poem penned by Dawn and Neel themselves (ok, that might actually be what I love most about the necklace!).
